Looking to Declutter/Organize your Garage?
Ever walk through your garage and think, wow I need to declutter and organize this garage? Well, you're not the only one. Thousands of people everyday have this problem. First world problems I know! Don't worry, it's not as much work as you think it will be. All you have to do is have a “HOME” for everything. No, I don't mean you need to post everything on the ol’ Craigslist or Offerup. Although it wouldn't hurt to get rid of that old stack of magazines you have laying around or that bag of golf clubs that you don't even use anymore. What I mean is, designate a cabinet space, storage box, or shelf for certain items and always put it back in that same spot!
Start big by designating an area for things that just wont fit in a box/cabinet. E.g. things like bikes, golf clubs, luggage, and things like that. Bikes can be hung up on a wall mounted rack like the Wall Mounted Fleximounts Bike Racks which comes in 4 different configurations for a number of bikes. For luggages that seldom gets used, you could throw those up on an overhead mounted garage storage rack like the Fleximounts - GR48 4′ X 8′ Overhead Garage Storage Rack. But don’t forget to bag it with a trash bag, unless you like to dust off that ol’ luggage when it comes time to head to Hawaii on that Summer vacation. For that bag of clubs that could get some tee time on the greens in the near future, you could set them in the corner or put it in a large locker like the NewAge 48 in. Multi- Use Locker (Email us or call us to order!).
Next, you want to purchase those storage totes or boxes like you see at Lowe’s or Home Depot and load those up and store those up top on the previously mentioned Overhead Storage Racks. Smaller items can then go into smaller boxes or zip lock bags that can go into those storage totes. Or you can get those organizer boxes and set them on top of a workbench or mount it on the wall.
For odd things like hoses and ropes, use hooks to hang them up on the wall or underneath the overhead racks and shelves. If you're a gearhead like myself, you might have a ton of tools that need a home too. Organize those into a rolling tool box/tool cabinet. Knowing exactly where that pair of pliers or that hammer is the next time you’re working on a house project or your prized weekend driver will make life so much better!
If you want to put the cherry on top of your garage clean up why not add some eye-catching flooring like the Swisstrax Diamondtrax HOME 2-Car Garage Kit in a preconfigured black and white checkered style. Too flashy for you? Then the Swisstrax Ribtrax Pro in Slate Grey would be perfect!
After all is said and done, what you’ll get is a garage that’s decluttered and organized, that will make you proud every time you enter it. Leaving the garage door up a while longer as the neighbors peer inside from across the street won’t make you cringe one bit. Or you just might get “caught” spending a little too much time in it gazing at your hard work!
